Kevin then looks up, sees Marley and backs away a little before running off while also accidentally taking the toothbrush with him (as he didn’t have time to buy the toothbrush). It's not like the actor cut his hand and the director kept filming, that'd be madness. And this film is hyper-economical with its time, they wouldn't waste a close-up to show a wound healing over the course of time unless it meant something besides the passage of time. In the final scene of the film, Marley, has reunited with his estranged son and Kevin waves to him.

But perhaps, most shocking of all is the theory that the shovel slayer and Kevin's Dad, Peter McCallister, could be in on the crime together. The other quote people often say is “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal,” but that line actually isn’t said in the first film but only in the sequel. But, both of these lines are really hilarious and dramatic, and people will love to say them for years to come. The way that Harry controls Marv is typical of many fictional criminal masterminds and their dim-witted accomplices, but the two do share some actual camaraderie at times. When Kevin goes out shopping by himself to get groceries, he tries to pick out a new toothbrush but is very concerned about whether it’s a good one. It’s definitely funny to see him try to figure out how to take care of things on his own.
Harry and Marv meet each other on one side, but when Kevin says "Come and get me," they come from both sides to the foot of the stairs. When Kevin crosses himself before his macaroni and cheese dinner, he goes from right shoulder to left shoulder. The microwave macaroni and cheese that Kevin gets from the grocery store asking the cashier if it's any good and is almost about to eat which he doesn't is Kraft Dinner. During rehearsal for the scene where Harry attempts to bite off Kevin's finger, Joe Pesci actually bit Macaulay Culkin, leaving a small scar.
Kevin learns the real reason the rumors were spread; Marley has been estranged from his son for quite some time, thus separating him from his granddaughter, who is singing with the choir. Kevin urges Marley to make amends with his son for Christmas and Marley agrees. After showering, Kevin uses his father's grooming products, including his aftershave, causing Kevin to scream from the burning sensation in pain.

And even fewer tug at the heartstrings of viewers quite like watching Kevin and his misunderstood neighbor, Old Man Marley, talk about the true meanings of love and forgiveness. As Kevin wonders out loud about not liking his family, Old Man Marley explains, “How you feel about your family is a complicated thing. You can hurt them, and they can hurt you” — a friendly reminder for everyone who spends time around their extended family this time of year. In a scene where a police officer arrives to pick up Kevin and bring him to his family, he kept knocking until he decided no one was home. In reality, a police officer would not assume anyone is home when Kevin was in the house as they would actually get him to come out of the house so that they could bring him to his family.
It takes about seven or eight hours to fly from Chicago to Paris, and Paris time is seven hours ahead of Chicago time. Kate tells the pizza boy that her brother-in-law drove in from Ohio earlier that day with his family, yet later in the film only Kate and Peter's cars are seen in the garage. Shortly after Kevin is returned home safely, Harry and Marv are arrested. Additionally, the police have now become aware of every house the Wet Bandits have targeted due to Marv's habit of leaving the household's water running as a "calling card". Marv tells the police about their crimes which causes Harry to kick him twice as they get in the police car. As the police car drives away, Kevin sarcastically waves at Harry, who hopes that he and Marv will return one day for revenge.
Even without the novelization's explanation, it is still likely that he had blisters on his hand caused by shoveling snow which burst, necessitating the bandage. When Kevin calls 911 to report that robbers are in his house, he uses a phone that says "Pacific Bell," which isn't available in Chicago. They would not receive service from Pacific Bell, but Pacific Bell does sell phones which can be used anywhere with any service. When Kevin is having a flashback of his family tormenting him, we see Linnie turn around and go down the stairs.
